Heart Full of Gratitude: Celebrating Community, Creativity, and Family

As the owner of SA Entertainment KC LLC, I often find myself reflecting on how fortunate I am to be part of such a fun and creative world—especially when things get so crazy and I finally get a moment to pause and breathe. With the holiday season upon us, it feels like the perfect time to try and share some gratitude for all the people (and things!) that make this journey so rewarding.  Here’s a few of my thoughts.

We’re especially excited to pair this blog with the article about gratefulness featured in the December issue of Leawood City Lifestyle, which highlights our company and the incredible work we get to do. It’s such an honor to be recognized by our community, and we couldn’t be more grateful!

In fact, we were first mentioned in Leawood City Lifestyle earlier this year and being featured once again feels like a full-circle moment. You can check out the current article here.

First, I’m thankful for the talented artists, entertainers and performers who bring magic (literally) to every event we do. Whether it’s a face painter transforming kids into superheroes or a DJ spinning the perfect playlist, their dedication and creativity never cease to amaze me. Owning your own business isn’t for the faint of heart, especially when you’re working in the arts and entertainment industry. It takes a lot of bravery and hard work to make a living doing what they do, and I’m so proud to lead a team that is not only passionate about the craft but also so willing to give their best at every event.

Taking care of this team is my top priority. Making people happy for a living is one of the best jobs in the world, but it comes with sacrifices. I am constantly inspired by how our artists show up, day after day, to deliver these magical moments!

I’m thankful for my daughter, Cody, who not only keeps me on my toes as my business partner but somehow still wants to hang out with me and watch Below Deck, shhhhh-its our guilty pleasure.  Even with meltdowns and eye rolls, from us both we remain close and can laugh about most any troubles.  Despite the occasional chaos, she’s a rock and the future of this family-run agency. Her passion and energy keep us all going.

I’m also super proud of my other kids, Roscoe and Scout. Roscoe serves as a helicopter pilot for the National Guard, embodying bravery and dedication, and Scout, a talented musician who runs her own online vintage clothing store, blends creativity with business savvy. When she’s not busy with her own projects, she sometimes lends a hand to the family business. I feel so blessed watching all three of these kids carve out their own paths in life.

A huge shout out goes to my husband, Brian, who has stood by my side for 35 years. He’s sweet, patient, and always ready to help—whether it’s a last-minute balloon emergency or hauling glitter-covered supplies into the house. He never questions the chaos, which is smart because he knows better… Let’s be honest—I’m not exactly easy to live with. Between the glitter, excitement and the nonstop madness, Brian handles it all like a champ. Seriously, he deserves a medal (or at least hazard pay) for surviving life with me and this crazy business.

Then, there’s coffee—yes, coffee deserves its own shout-out. Without it, I’m not sure how I’d juggle booking princesses, organizing live bands, and answering emails all in one day. Coffee, you are the real MVP.

Of course, I couldn’t do any of this without the unwavering support of my friends, and our incredible clients. Your trust in us allows us to spread joy and create unforgettable memories, one balloon animal and glitter tattoo at a time.

And let’s not forget the amazing community we’re so proud to call home. Overland Park, along with Leawood, Lenexa, Shawnee, Merriam, Kansas City, and so many other wonderful neighborhoods, you’ve all been our biggest cheerleaders. Your support has helped us grow and thrive, and we couldn’t ask for a better place to call home.

This holiday season, I realize it’s a little bit corny but I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on what they’re grateful for (and maybe raise a cup of really good coffee to toast it). I know I’m continually counting my blessings—one superhero cape, one face paint masterpiece, and one caffeine boost at a time!

Here’s to a season filled with gratitude, laughter, and lots of fun!
