About Us
In the summer of 2003, MJ and her sister Kimberly Nichols decided to try out face painting at festivals for fun and some quick cash. The name Sister Act Face Painting was Kim’s idea, a silly fun idea and supposed to be temporary but Sister Act quickly took off and gained a reputation. The infectious power of painting & connecting to the guest sparked with the public. As the company grew, Sister Act stuck and became Kansas City’s premiere, go-to face painting and body art business. In 2013, Kim tragically passed away and the title became a beautiful memorial of her life.
Today, Sister Act Face Painting is excited to announce a pivot from face painting to a full service offering of entertainers and performers and with a new name SA Entertainment KC.The company is focused on creative Face Painting as usual, however they are rebranding to reflect that they offer so much more in the way of live entertainment options while still paying tribute to humble beginnings.
After 20 years of wonderful work, MJ has been building a network of clients while painting on-site from large venues to small intimate parties to ensure the best results. SA Entertainment has partnered with all of KC’s professional sports teams, the MLB Allstar Games, the NCAA Big 12 and KU Athletics, along with some of Kansas City's beloved events like Big Slick, Town Center Plaza Sunset Music Fest, and the Prairie Villagefest, among a few. SA Entertainment has proven their ability to handle pressure and deliver consistent results every time. As a company, MJ understands the importance of building personal relationships with its entertainers and only hires artists and performers who have been vetted and are personally known to MJ herself.
Building her business, teaching, networking and creating lasting relationships has been the joy of MJ’s career, and it is with some difficulty that she is now stepping back from most of her on-site artistry. After her recent diagnosis of Parkinson’s, MJ is refocusing her time to work more behind the scenes to plan events that support her colleagues & friends in the local entertainment industry.
